Job Summary The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting the Veterinarian and other staff with patient care, lab work, and patient duties.
This position provides support to the Veterinarian and other staff members in the clinic.
The ideal candidate is a team player who can work well independently.
Duties and Responsibilities Assists with patient care, including but not limited to:
examination, medication administration, wound care, and medication management.
Assists with lab work including but not limited to:
fecal analysis, urinalysis, and blood draws.
Administers medications as prescribed by the Veterinarian.
Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Veterinarian or Manager.
Maintains cleanliness of exam rooms and equipment.
Ensures patient safety at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Veterinarian or Manager.
Experience:
Experience working in a veterinary hospital preferred but not required.
Experience with medical terminology preferred but not required (not required for new graduates).
Experience with digital radiographs preferred but not required (not required for new graduates).
Experience with electronic medical records preferred but not required (not required for new graduates).
Knowledge of veterinary surgical procedures preferred but not required (not required for new graduates).
Education:
Not Required; however, applicants with a high school diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
