, OH 44057 Position Description:
Under direction of the Park Maintenance Superintendent, the Park Maintenance Regional Supervisor directs and manages the regional grounds maintenance staff to assure the public's safety and maintain the overall condition of the parks including grounds, buildings, and natural areas.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Directs and manages regional park maintenance staff including but not limited to training, coaching and counseling; assuring performance and morale; prioritizing and assigning work.
Directs lawn care, parking lot and restroom maintenance, and snow and ice removal for regional parks.
Oversees the maintenance of reservable amenities in regional parks including but not limited to campsites, cabins, and shelters.
Oversees and directs trail maintenance activities; perform storm damaged tree removal as required.
Oversees and manages the regional maintenance facility ensuring the facility remains organized, keeping track of various assets, maintaining inventories of consumable goods, and maintaining tools.
Assists staff in the maintenance of regional parks including but not limited to the following duties:
custodial and janitorial maintenance of facilities and amenities, landscaping and lawncare, parking lot and pavement maintenance, snow and ice removal.
Performs basic maintenance of facilities and amenities that may require skills in the following areas, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, and basic electrical.
Procures goods and services needed for the maintenance of regional parks following agency procurement guidelines; monitor and control expenses.
Completes all required inspections, keep records and documentation as directed by Supervisor including but not limited to playground and structure inspections and herbicide application records.
Operates and maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance and making basic repairs.
Assures compliance with all related safety regulations and ongoing training requirements.
Organizes and creates opportunities for staff training and professional growth.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
3
years of previous supervisory experience preferred.
3
years of previous maintenance experience including but not limited to custodial/janitorial duties, grounds maintenance duties, and facilities maintenance required.
Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License required or ability to obtain within six months of start date.
Position Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques.
Broad knowledge of general trades such as construction, plumbing, electrical, and painting Basic knowledge of local flora and fauna Knowledge of related safety regulations Knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding the use of pesticides in the State of Ohio.
Broad, in-depth landscaping, maintenance, and mechanical skills.
In-depth individual and team leadership skills.
Basic skills in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and masonry.
Skilled in general landscaping and grounds maintenance.
In-depth interpersonal skills:
demonstrated emotional intelligence; self-awareness, accurate self-assessment, sensitivity, honesty, reliability, trust and consistency.
Proficient written and oral communication skills.
Ability to supervise others on tasks and set priorities.
Ability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
Ability to operate various types of tools including hand tools, and power tools - both gas and electric.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Ability to organize and analyze job related subject matter.
Ability to professionally manage regional parks including handling safety concerns or issues and communicating with visitors, Rangers, staff and supervisor as appropriate.
Ability to think critically and adapt where needed.
Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, prior experience using facility maintenance scheduling software preferred.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds regularly and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions and to follow an irregular schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Must possess a valid drivers' license and insurable on the Agency's liability policy.
Background check required.
